Riding at Summit

Our program is rooted primarily in the hunter/jumper discipline, with opportunities to explore Western riding, trail riding, horsemanship, hunter paces, and fox hunting as your interests develop.

We are not a show-driven program. Our focus is building confident, capable, well-rounded riders through consistent instruction and a thoughtful understanding of the horse.

Whether you’re learning to ride for the first time, returning after years away, or simply looking for a different way to enjoy the sport, your riding experience is shaped around your own goals.

A Thoughtful Approach to Learning

New riders begin with private horseback riding lessons, working one-on-one with an instructor until they feel confident and ready to progress.

From there, riders may move into semi-private or group lessons at a pace that matches their experience and training. Group lessons are limited to five riders.

The result is a focused learning environment with the time and space to develop confidence, feel, and a genuine connection with the horse.

Calm, Private and Unhurried

Summit Equestrian Club is intentionally designed to feel different from a busy lesson barn.

There is little traffic in the barn or riding rings at any given time, giving riders room to learn without feeling watched or rushed.

Our North Salem facility includes a heated indoor arena, spacious outdoor arena, temperature-controlled riders' lounge and viewing room, coffee bar, Wi-Fi, and direct access to the North Salem Bridle Trails.

Membership & Lessons

Summit is a membership-based equestrian club built around consistent riding.

Membership includes an initiation fee, monthly dues, and a choice of a 36- or 52-lesson package. Lessons can be scheduled throughout the membership period to fit each rider’s goals and lifestyle.

Many members ride several times each week, but there is no required pace.

Exceptional Horses, Without Ownership

Members ride our carefully selected and beautifully maintained horses without taking on the financial responsibility or daily obligations of horse ownership.

Our professional team manages their care, while riders have the opportunity to develop their skills on quality horses.

For members who want a deeper partnership with one horse, leasing opportunities are also available.

Boarding, Training and Horse Development

For riders who own their own horse, Summit also offers full-service boarding and professional training in North Salem.

Our program combines individualized care, thoughtful conditioning, professional training, and rider development in the same highly managed environment that defines the club.

For members considering horse ownership, we can also assist with finding and selecting an appropriate horse.

More Than Riding

For many members, Summit becomes a regular part of the week—not simply a place to take a riding lesson.

Members can participate in Sunday horsemanship classes, monthly social events, trail rides, and other opportunities to enjoy life at the barn.

As riders progress, experiences may extend to the North Salem Bridle Trails, hunter paces, fox hunting with Golden's Bridge Hounds, and other ways of enjoying horses both in and out of the saddle.

Experience Summit

You do not need to be a member to experience Summit Equestrian Club for the first time.

Nonmembers are welcome to join us for an evaluation lesson, adult equestrian camp, or guided trail ride—a natural introduction for adults who are curious about riding, returning to horses, or simply looking for time in the saddle.

Riders who would like to continue with regular lessons are invited to explore membership.

Summit Equestrian Club is located in North Salem, Westchester County, New York, in the heart of one of the region's most beautiful equestrian communities.

Many of our riders travel from New York City and Brooklyn. Summit is closer than you might think: a train ride north followed by a short taxi or car ride to the barn.
